A snaffle bit is a basic bit and is well accepted by most horses. The double-jointed mouthpiece puts more pressure on the tongue.

The flat, oval plate removes the severe nutcracker action of the snaffle, and encourages the horse to be lighter and lean on the bit less, as there is more mobility in the mouthpiece.
